These skilled individuals ensure that all heavy equipment, which is essential for various industrial operations, operates efficiently and safely. The role involves inspecting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of large machinery such as bulldozers, cranes, graders, and other construction equipment. The significance of Heavy Equipment Mechanics cannot be overstated as they directly impact operational efficiency and safety protocols. Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred. Previous experience with CAT SIS or ET programs highly desired. Keynote that candidates will be expected to pass entrance exam, panel interview and pass a demonstration of skills hand on assessment. Compensation: Starting pay for this role is $40.39/hr . This role also offers opportunities for overtime and employees are eligible for quarterly bonuses. Shift: This position works a day shift from 7:00 am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday, that includes weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.Our Team The Georgia-Pacific Brunswick mill, which has been in operation since 1937, has the capability to produce over 800,000 tons of cellulose each year.   • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues using automotive diagnostics tools
  • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting testing
  • Adjust equipment and replace faulty parts to ensure equipment functionality and safety
  • Performing routine maintenance checks on machinery to thwart potential failures and guarantee smooth operations
  • Interpret technical manuals and drawings to execute repairs and enhancements
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and management to maintain machinery schedules and ensure compliance with all safety regulations
  • Test repaired machinery to verify successful restoration and adherence to performance and safety standards
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in heavy equipment maintenance
  • Strong understanding of electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Experience in operation and maintenance of cranes
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Valid crane operating license/certification
  • Vocational certification or an associate's degree in mechanical engineering or related fields.
  • Professional Certifications such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification
