The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs and operates tools or equipment.The work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery and chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.Emergency Preparedness Tier Level: 2 Job Responsibilities Operates and maintains road paving construction equipment including motor graders, rollers, loaders, tractors, dump trucks, tandem dump trucks, backhoes, water trucks, paving machine, reclaimer, dozer, and excavators.Operate haul truck, including load, tie down, and transport of equipment.Patches roadways, cuts brush, and picks up and disposes of trash and brush.Loads and unloads large amounts and weights of materials and debris to and from trucks.Drives a medium sized truck to transport personnel, supplies, and materials.May flag traffic as needed.May perform housekeeping and facilities maintenance functions.Able to report regularly for work and be on time.Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Qualifications High School Education/GED2+ years of experience in construction, repair and maintenance of roadways, bridges, beaches and drainage systems.2+ years of experience operating heavy and light construction equipment.Ability to operate and maintain equipment and vehiclesNeed to know what the safety policies and procedures are for this positionAbility to analyze problems and find solutionsAbility to complete tasks with an advanced level of operational proficiencyExcellent skill in oral and written communicationMust possess or ability to readily obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License issued by the State of Texas with a Tanker EndorsementMust pass a Criminal Background check.Must pass a driver's license background check.Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.Must be able to pass alcohol and drug testing.Americans with Disabilities Act ComplianceGalveston County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
