Job Description:
Overview The Heavy Equipment Operator will operate heavy equipment such as a dump truck, crew truck with trailer, excavator, loader, backhoe, and forklift. They will maintain assigned equipment in a safe operating condition. Responsibilities Drive crew truck with trailers to and from job sites Safely operate various size excavators for wastewater/water repairs Drive various size dump trucks, hauling dirt to and from work sites Responsible for the physical condition of equipment by inspecting equipment and issuing work orders for repair and maintenance Generate daily/weekly/monthly safety inspection reports of equipment as needed Perform basic preventive maintenance on CCW equipment Perform diagnosis and repairs to CCW equipment at job sites Communicate effectively with coworkers, management, and vendors verbally and in writing Perform other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required Position Type and Typical Hours of Work Non-Exempt - Full-Time Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED Two (2) years of experience Licenses and Certifications Required A valid Class A driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class A driver's license within 90 days of hire Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below: Criminal Background Check: Yes Motor Vehicle Record Check: Yes Clearinghouse Query: Yes Drug Screening: Yes Physical Exam: Yes Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
