Job DescriptionNewton County Stone - Rogers Group - Kentland, INFull Time - Day ShiftWages starting at $22.50 per hour, paid weekly. Higher starting pay may be available for experienced candidates. Newton County Stone is an open-pit limestone mine/quarry seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator / General Utility for our operation located in Kentland, IN. This will be a dual position between operating equipment and utility work around the plant operation - based on daily operational needs and duties assigned by management. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising emphasis on safety excellence, be a self-starter and will have responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
- Running various pieces of equipment as needed - such as a bobcat, skid steer, and haul truck. Dozer, track hoe,
- General plant labor and clean-up of production areas, including shoveling stone from around conveyors and assisting with plant clean-up and operations.
- Ability to perform plant maintenance work - cutting, welding, changing rollers & bearings, belt splicing.
- Being trained in various production positions and filling in as needed during vacations, absences, and increased production demand times.
- Run water truck to control dust on roadways.
- Report equipment problems and identify them to management; help maintain quarry and equipment.
- Complete daily inspections and equipment pre-shift report - if applicable.
- Assist other workers as needed or directed and other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- General mechanical knowledge
- Ability to maintain safe working conditions
- Self-starter/ ability to work without close supervision
- Perform daily pre and post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies
- Previous experience working in mining environment preferred
- Basic welding skills preferred, but not required
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Overtime is required as needed and may include Saturdays
