Job Description:
A private progressive school in Queens, NY is seeking a passionate and skilled Hebrew Language Teacher to join our educational team. The successful candidate will have a strong command of the Hebrew language, a commitment to fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment, and a proven ability to teach Hebrew language skills to students of varying levels. This role involves designing lesson plans, delivering instruction, and assessing student progress to ensure language acquisition and cultural understanding.Responsibilities:
  • Plan and Deliver Lessons: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cover Hebrew language skills, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension.
  • Assess Student Progress: Regularly evaluate and monitor student performance through assessments, assignments, and participation, providing constructive feedback to support growth.
  • Adapt Instruction: Tailor teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and proficiency levels, creating a supportive classroom environment for diverse learners.
  • Promote Cultural Awareness: Incorporate Israeli culture, history, and traditions into lessons to provide students with a well-rounded understanding of the Hebrew language.
  • Manage Classroom Environment: Establish clear rules, expectations, and routines to foster a positive and productive learning space.
  • Collaborate with Faculty: Work closely with other teachers and staff to integrate Hebrew learning across the curriculum and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain Communication: Regularly update parents or guardians on student progress, challenges, and achievements.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Hebrew Language, Education, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching Hebrew.
  • Language Proficiency: Native or near-native proficiency in Hebrew, with strong command of English.
  • Certification: Teaching certification is preferred, especially for K-12 education (if applicable).
  • Skills: Excellent communication, adaptability, patience, and classroom management skills.
  • Knowledge of Jewish cultural studies is a plus
