Position Description
Looking for a high energy and fast-paced environment where you can make a difference every day? Discover this great opportunity to join our team as a junior on-site help desk specialist supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Available shifts are M-F (with occasional weekend shift), 3:00pm - 11:30pm and 11:00pm - 7:30am.
As a Help Desk Support Specialist, you will:
* Work in an operations center side by side with other personnel throughout the shift
* Respond to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support
* Document, track, and monitor the problem to ensure a timely resolution
* Administer Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and 2008r2 operating systems
* Perform service and server restarts, patching and troubleshooting in the Microsoft Server domain
* Document and publish procedures to improve operational effectiveness

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
* Associates degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
* At least two years of operations support experience
* At least one year of experience with a federal agency or federal contractor
* At least two years of information technology experience
* Experience as a user of SCOM or another data center monitoring tool
* Experience working with and patching Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and 2008r2
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Strong written and verbal communications skills
* Linux (Rhel 6/7, Centos, Suse, Ubunto) experience a plus
