Job Description:

An Opioid Treatment Program in New York City is actively seeking a new Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team at one of their methadone clinics in Manhattan. In this role, the Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for the care coordination of Hepatitis C patients with opioid use disorder and actively participating with the interdisciplinary treatment team in the provision of medical and clinical services. About the Opportunity:

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (contract to perm)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: Monday - Friday 6:15am to 1:45pm
  • Patient Population: Adults (Ages 18+)
  • EMR: TenEleven ECR

Responsibilities:The Registered Nurse (RN) will:

  • Educate patients about hepatitis C infection
  • Manage and oversee implementation of annual hepatitis C screening of patients
  • Facilitate referral to on-site medical providers for treatment of hepatitis C
  • Track progress and cure rates of patients receiving hepatitis C treatment
  • Provide hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and influenza vaccinations
  • Manage vaccine ordering, tracking and documentation
  • Assist in education of staff on hepatitis C infection and treatment
  • Provide harm reduction counseling to patients with the goal of reducing overdose deaths, infectious disease, and hepatitis C reinfection
  • Track population data on hepatitis C infection rate within clinic patient population
  • Review laboratory tests
  • Educate patients on HCV transmission, treatment, prevention, and harm reduction in individual and group sessions
  • Participate in regular meetings to review program progress, identify patient needs, and review infection and cure rates
  • Develop protocols for prior authorizations and delivery of hepatitis C medication to clinic
  • Collaborate with nursing team to provide directly observed hepatitis C treatment when indicated

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with New York State license
  • 1 year of substance use disorder experience
  • Skilled in establishing rapport with patients who have substance use disorders and other mental health conditions
  • Embraces harm reduction as essential in treatment for Hepatitis C and opioid use disorder
  • Skilled in communication, organization, leadership, and clinical care
  • Works well in interdisciplinary teams

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working in a Methadone clinic and/or similar setting
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Experience providing care for people with substance use disorders or Hepatitis C
