This opportunity is specifically open to J1 visa applicants. Job Summary: Assistance in the training, collection, treatment and movement of Boars within the Gene Center Required Job Hours: Approximately 45 hours per week; 9 hours per day; 5 days per week plus rotating weekends (start time may vary). Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Assessment of Boars body condition and health condition (LO/DH);
- Documentation of all Boars collection history on each Boar card;
- Administration of Boars treatment and noted on treatment cards;
- Boar training and collection of new incoming groups of Boars;
- Moving Boars from Isolation to main barn and on days during collection;
- Comply with all bio-security, safety, and animal welfare policies.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to reach, bend, kneel, and squat with full range of motion and demonstrate agility, frequently.
- Continuous walking from crate to crate to check on Boars; a minimum of 8 hours per day.
- Quick reaction time and the ability to move away from any difficult Boars;
- Continuous bending for training and collection of Boars;
- Frequent kneeling, bending, reaching, and steady balance required for training and collecting of Boars;
- Must be able to lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds consistently, with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds;
- Must be able to push and pull up to 30 pounds;
- Must be able to stand and walk 8 hours every day, with one 45-minute break; and
- Must be able to legibly write on Boar cards for production documentation.
