Other duties may be assigned.
  • Collaborates with occupational therapist's effectiveness by identifying patient care issues; providing information and commentary; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physical therapy directives.
  • Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing occupational therapy examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying therapy histories.
  • Assesses abnormal conditions by reviewing occupational therapist's interpretations of patient evaluations and test results, reports any abnormalities to Occupational therapist and Physical Therapy Lead.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records in a timely manner.
  • Attends departmental meetings as needed.
  • Works as scheduled and follows attendance policies such as reports to duty on time, reports illness in advance of shift, accepts assignments and completes them using good time management skills, and make every effort to be on duty as scheduled.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities; and in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses; simple wound care as ordered under the patient's individual plan of care by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • Provides continuity of care by completing patient management plans as directed under the Occupational Therapist.
  • Maintains professional, safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Maintains production objectives by noting current treatment trends; monitoring actual occupational therapy services rendered to production objectives.
  • Monitors vital signs and reports abnormal values to patient's Nursing Case Manager in a timely manner.
  • Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to policy positions concerning federal, state, and local regulations, and anticipating emerging issues.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances occupational therapy and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Responsible for reporting any and all unsafe or negative work environments to their supervisor, agency administrator and or Human Resources.
QualificationsEducation and/or Experience Associates or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy. Licensed & Certified in State of Texas. Computer literacy and adaptability required Excellent organizational, communication, and judgment skills are a must.CPRReliable transportation with insurance coverage; Current TX Driver's License
