Position Type: Tutors/OtherDate Posted: 11/17/2024Location: LISA Academy SpringdaleDate Available: 11/17/2024Department/Campus: Campus Reports to: Student Services Coordinator FLSA Status: Classified Job Type Full Time JOB GOAL Provide direct instruction, as mandated by Arkansas law (ACT 1294 of 2013 and ACT 1268 of 2015), for students with characteristics of dyslexia or dyslexia utilizing a Dyslexia program that provides direct instruction that is (A) Systematic, sequential, cumulative (B) Multisensory and research-based (C) Offered in a small group setting to teach the components of reading (D) Delivered with FIDELITY as the author intended. Dyslexia interventionists may also provide instructional support to teachers with students with characteristics of dyslexia or dyslexia. Refer students with characteristics of dyslexia or dyslexia for a possible Section 504 plan or Special Education services and assist by being an active member of Section 504 or Special Education team in the development of a 504 plan or Individual Education Plan when appropriate (Initial, Annual, and Tri-Annual Evaluation Review). POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Educational Requirement: High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Training in the Connections curriculum is highly preferred. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide instructional services to those students who have been identified for dyslexia services
- Implement the district dyslexia intervention program
- Keep accurate and complete records including Lesson Plans, Service Logs, Student Progress (Quarterly and Annually) documents for identified students with characteristics of dyslexia or dyslexia as required
- Assist in screening and / or evaluating students who have been referred to the dyslexia program for testing and provide periodic evaluation and exit consideration from the dyslexia program, which includes a written screening report.
- Participate with teachers, parent(s), and campus administrators in determining qualification for Section 504 services or
Special Education services concerning dyslexia services
- Work with District Student Services Coordinator to ensure that Arkansas Dyslexia (ACT 1294 of 2013 and ACT 1268 of
2015) to maintain compliance with these laws
- Understand and explain Arkansas Dyslexia (ACT 1294 of 2013 and ACT 1268 of 2015) law/procedures, screening results and information to parents and teachers is necessary
- Coordinate services with other involved school personnel in planning and providing joint instruction for students
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other relevant staff members in developing and implementing interventions
- Assume responsibility for instructional materials and equipment inventoried to the assigned school
- Attend district and campus meetings involving reading programs and programs for students with characteristics of dyslexia or dyslexia
- Attend training in methods and strategies that improve general reading and dyslexia instruction
- Complete student progress reports in the dyslexia program by completing quarterly and annual progress reports that will also be provided to parents at the end of each quarter and the end of the school year.
- Monitor students that have been dismissed from dyslexia intervention services due to reaching grade-level dismissal criteria for one year with documentation.
- Provide staff development to campus personnel on dyslexia/reading issues
- Assist classroom teachers by helping them identify appropriate strategies on the delivery of regular classroom reading instructions to identified students
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
- Implement appropriate and effective behavior management in the therapy setting and at assigned duties
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees
- Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations
- Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors and coworkers
- Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents
- Perform other duties as assigned
