- Work with students within the classroom environment or other environments within the school setting to assist in completion of lessons and implement goals and objectives.
- Provide individual and/or small group instructional support as directed by professional staff.
- Assist substitutes with teacher's sub plans, class lists, attendance, and photocopying.
- Assist with clerical duties as assigned.
- Provide support in the department resource center.
- Monitor department equipment and supplies.
- Participate in scheduled meetings, as requested.
- Assist teacher(s) in maintaining appropriate classroom behavior or monitoring specific behavior management plans.
- Accompany students on field trips or to job sites.
- Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, and break periods.
- Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
- Participate in in-service programs, as assigned.
- Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
- Recognize that student progress and records are confidential and must be discussed only with appropriate school personnel.
- Recognize that all communication with parents and other third parties regarding students shall not be the responsibility of the assistant and shall be conducted only by the professional staff.
- Perform other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
- Must comply with all SAU 70 District policies and building / department rules, procedures, practices and objectives.
Evaluation: Evaluation will be completed by the Building Administrator or designee.
