The assistant wrestling coach promotes an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship. Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A teacher with a current teaching license is preferred but not a requirement.
- Current CPR and AED Certification.
- Previous coaching experience in this sport at the high school level is desirable.
- Have a valid driver's license, be able to drive, and qualify under the district's insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
- Desire to continue career improvement.
- Excellent oral and verbal communication skills.
- Proven problem-solving skills.
Essential Functions:
- Assists the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.
- Assesses player's skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head wrestling coach informed of the athletic performance of students.
- Assists with determining game strategy.
- Assists the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.
- Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
- Maintains the equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
- Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach.
- Promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Support the value of an education.
- Help students achieve gains in athletic skill and team performance.
- Maintain good public relations for the wrestling program
- Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities.
- Follow school, league, district, and CHSAA regulations and policies.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
