Children's Aid is the lead partner for the Curtis High School Community School initiative in Staten Island. Through this partnership, we offer a robust array of resources to promote the academic success, health, and emotional well-being of our students and families.
**Position Summary:**** **
Reporting to the Program Director, Success Mentors and Tutors serves a caseload of students who need additional academic support. The position focuses on math, science, literacy, math, and attendance concerns.
This is a part-time position working 20 - 25 hours per week, 4 - 5 hours per day when DOE schools are in session.
**Essential Duties:**** **
* Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures
* Provide personalized academic support to students in grades 9-12, assisting with homework, assignments, projects, study strategies, and exam preparation
* Assist program staff in organizing and facilitating school-wide activities
* Encourage students to engage in other program activities and utilize available resources
* Actively participate in weekly team meetings, supervision sessions, and trainings
* Collaborate with Department of Education (DOE) staff to communicate with parents about attendance, performance, improvement, and effort
* Offer one-on-one support to students regarding attendance, academic performance, and effort
* Communicate any issues affecting students' academic performance and attendance to the Program Director and Community School Director
* Implement attendance improvement interventions for students identified as chronically absent
* Perform other duties as assigned
******Minimum Qualifications:**** **
* Associate's degree required, Bachelor's preferred
* 2-3 years of experience in youth development, with proficiency in Science and Math subjects

* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Exceptional group management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
* Ability to work as part of a team within a school community
