Position Type: Security/Security - 10-MonthDate Posted: 9/20/2024Location: Hamady High SchoolDate Available:Closing Date: Until FilledDistrict: Westwood Heights Schools - websiteAvailable Immediate Availablity Hours: 7:30 am - 3:30 pm General Definition of Work: The school security assists in the overall maintenance of a safe environment by working alongside the administration and conducting surveillance of school buildings, grounds, and activities and ensuring the security of the school by enforcing established rules and regulations. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the building administration.Essential Functions:
  • Experience with middle and high school students
  • Routinely patrols hallways, restrooms, and parking areas
  • Maintains presence at main entrance
  • Directs traffic at passing times and dismissal times
  • Checks hall passes of students going to and from class
  • Checks all visitor passes
  • Monitors traffic and oversees the safety of students riding school buses and driving cars
  • Checks doors and entrances of the building to make certain they are secured and reports any physical or mechanical damage to the school premises to the administrator
  • Works with authorities to investigate and report any unusual conditions or disturbances
  • Assists in monitoring student behavior
  • Deters student loitering
  • Performs other related duties assigned by building administration
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to work cooperatively with students, teachers, parents, and guests; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and law enforcement officers; knowledge of school procedures and practices; knowledge of laws pertaining to trespassing, breaking and entering, destruction of property, as well as other laws pertaining to school safety and security; knowledge of radio discipline and procedures; good written and oral communication skills, as well as well-developed observation skills; ability to follow instructions and exercise basic problem-solving skills, when needed; basic first aid and CPR techniques.Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent; prefer related experience working in law enforcement or security; minimum 21 years of age.Physical Conditions and Nature of Work: School Security must operate under stressful circumstances and respond to emergency situations; work involves regular standing, walking, and occasionally lifting of equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.Application procedure:
