POSITION SUMMARY: The job of Student Manager is done for the purpose/s of developing students academic skills through academic courses of study and implementing District approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment, and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training, Experience, Licensure and Certification

  • Current First Aid Card Required or to be obtained within the district.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
  • Teaching Credential for appropriate level of instruction and/or subjects
  • Highly Qualified Status for assignment
  • Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Certificates
  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Prior job related experience

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Skills to motivate students, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, evaluate performance
  • Knowledge of age appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, appropriate instructional subjects
  • Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel, meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/field of vision
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Teaches individual students strategies and skills including conflict resolution, responsibility and problem solving.
  • Consults with, and assists, the school staff and parents developing student behavioral expectations.
  • Support the successful implementation of positive behavior expectations and management strategies through modeling and/or co-teaching.
  • Plans, develops and implements individual student behavior contracts in collaboration with parents and building administrators.
  • Acts as a resource for staff with discipline issues and/or assisting teachers in effective and culturally appropriate classroom management practices.
  • Works with identified students for the purpose of modifying behaviors.
  • Assists the administration in the implementation and evaluation of school-wide positive behavior procedures for all students.
  • Assists the administration on disciplinary issues, including those that may result in suspension and/or expulsion.
  • Assists in developing programs and/or activities to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies.
  • Assesses, monitors and provides feedback to students on their academic and/or behavioral progress as necessary.
  • In collaboration with other building staff, collects and reviews data related to school positive student behavior goals.
  • Provides information on school behavior plans, programs, policies and the role of Student
  • Behavior Resource staff.
  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management.
  • Prompt and regular attendance
  • Takes precautions to provide for the health and safety of all students.
  • Takes precautions to secure and protect District material, equipment and facilities.
  • Participates in activities related to school functions and/or the educative process that occur outside the regular school day, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
  • Participates in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information and/or meeting credential requirements
  • Select and requisition books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies and maintain required inventory records
  • Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school and/or on a District level. May teach under modular or flexible scheduling plans.
  • Share in the sponsorship of student activities, and participates in faculty committees
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to:
  • Sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Talk and hear conversations
  • Use precise control of fingers and hand movement, often in a repetitive movement such as keyboarding
  • Reach for and handle objects
  • Use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Regularly focus on a computer screen
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting up to 15-45 pounds may also be required on occasion
