Mission: Dominican Academy (D.A.), a Catholic secondary school for young women, is dedicated to academic excellence

Dominican Academy, an all-honors high school, which is part of the Archdiocese of NY and sponsored by the Dominican
Sisters of Peace, seeks a head coach for our Cross Country/Indoor and Outdoor teams for the season starting
immediately. Dominican Academy is a member of the Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA). Students come
from diverse backgrounds and experiences to form a community of motivated and compassionate leaders, who want to
make a positive change in our world. Potential candidates should be aware of the school's Catholic mission and
commitment to develop each student-athlete's mind, body, heart and spirit both on and off the court.
Qualifications and Skills:
? Bachelor's degree, preferably in physical education or related field.
? Experience either as a Cross Country/Indoor and Outdoor runner or coach and versed in the rules and regulations of
Cross Country/Indoor and Outdoor Track a plus.
? Trained or willingness to train in Basic Life Support (BLS), which includes CPR/AED training, and the use of Epinephrine
Auto-Injector (EAI).
? Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and administration.
? Attentiveness to the social-emotional needs of high school students.
? A passion for motivating student-athletes and creating team bonding and school spirit through athletics.
? Ability to work collaboratively with athletic director and assistant coach.
Key Responsibilities Include:
? Organization of team players in conjunction with assistant coach.
? Conducting practice sessions after school 2 times a week plus 1 meet per week, usually on weekends, which may
include travel in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Westchester or Staten Island.
? Attend 2 coaches meetings with the CHSAA.
? Responsible for implementing the pre-set training program and instruction of team both outdoors at Central Park, the
Armory, Icahn Stadium and at our school gym.
? Coordination with assistant coach to register team for meets and posting results.
? Responsible for the conduct of the team both during practices and meets and responsible for the team's compliance
with the CHSAA's code of conduct.
Salary Range: $1000-$1500 per season
