We're searching for a skilled individual who excels in inspecting, repairing, modifying, and installing electrical equipment. If you have a background in electricity and a passion for maintenance, this role is perfect for you.Required work includes, but is not limited to, electrical system maintenance, repair, and inspections of existing facilities, the hired electrician is responsible for approximately 550,000 sq. ft. of facilities and 49 buildings, to include the 101st Air refueling wing in Bangor Maine as well as two geographically separated units in south Portland Maine. The Master electrician must have an exceptional background of working/training in a commercial industry setting with old and new construction, materials, in depth electrical code knowledge, and their inter-relationship to the construction process. Additionally, the employee must have the ability to read/interpret blueprints/electrical schematics for hooking up pumps/motors/electric valves to meet construction standards. The hired employee must be able to: independently lift and carry loads of up to 50lbs over distances of up to 75 feet on occasion; erect step and extension ladders to access roofs and equipment; climb steps and ladders while carrying loads up to 25lbs; perform confined space entry by harness into underground tanks; operate in confined spaces such as in ceilings or under machinery and equipment; and be able to bend, stoop and reach above, under or around equipment being serviced. The employee selected for this position is subject to be called in to work during off hours for both emergencies and scheduled work and must have a valid State of Maine drivers license Skills or knowledge required:
  • Knowledge of the State and National Electrical Code.
  • Knowledge of the tools, materials, methods, and practices of the electrical trade.
  • Knowledge of the principles and theory of electricity.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the electrical trade including HVelectrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret and work from sketches, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Ability to keep electronic records and files.
  • Ability to estimate materials required for a job.
  • Ability to detect and repair defects in a variety of electrical systems and equipment including low voltage fire alarm systems.
Minimum qualifications:Current valid Master Electrician's license as issued by the Electrician's Examining Board.Licensing/registration/certification requirements: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).Master Electrician's license as issued by the Electrician's Examining Board. Some positions may require a Certificate of Special Training in High Voltage work.
