THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is seeking a hard-working Highway Foreman 2 to supervise the work of a general highway maintenance crew performing manual labor and operating heavy equipment to perform standard or routine maintenance and repair operations on or around assigned highways. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and training a team of equipment operators and laborers who are engaged in various highway maintenance activities. This includes tasks such as patching, crack sealing, shoulder stabilization, drainage pipe installation and cleaning, guide rail installation, roadway sweeping, litter pickup, pothole filling, roadway widening, complaint investigation, and emergency response to snow and ice, storm damage, or vehicle accidents.
Your duties will also include investigating highway complaints and responding quickly and appropriately. Monitoring road conditions is crucial for effective planning and prioritization of tasks. This role ensures that materials and workmanship meet quality standards, supporting highway maintenance integrity. It requires a combination of planning, supervision, and technical skills. You must manage a team effectively, coordinate tasks, and maintain high work standards while being detail-oriented, as accurate records and prompt complaint responses are crucial. By performing these tasks, you contribute to the efficient operation and upkeep of highways, enhancing public safety and convenience.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment
+ Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
+ This position may require overtime, dual shifts, shift-work, and travel.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1; or
+ Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or
+ Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
+ This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License.
