Job Description:
Prepares and maintains a variety of Departmental reports and records.Supervises correspondence staff.Maintains and assures that all records are accurate and conform to hospital accreditation standards of the JCAHO and New YorkState Department of Health.Provides daily update to Director of Health Information Management on activities, issues and problemsProvides reports on status of chart completion and other required items for the Health Information Management Committee.Works as Director of Health Information Management in his/her absence.Maintains quality work to assure timely completion of workload and adherence to standards of quality control.Works closely with our Release of Information vendor to ensure production, quality control and compliance with regulatory requirements.In conjunction with1he Director of Health Information Management reviews and evaluates existing systems, methodologies, policies and/or procedures; develops, recommends and implements or guides and/or modifies system policies.Assists the Director of Health Information Management in preparing and controlling Departmental Budget.Maintains adequate inventory of equipment and supplies and initiates requisitions, as needed.In conjunction with the Director of Health Information Management performs a variety of supervisory and managerial functions.A. Assigns and distributes work to staff.B. Monitors employee performance to ensure standards are being maintained.C. Prepares employee performance evaluations.D. Resolves routine complaints and disciplines employees as required.E. Provides In-Service training to all Personnel.F. Interviews applicants and recommends individuals for hire.Performs related and other departmental duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS:A. Education Required - Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management (preferred) or Associate's degree in Health Information Technology and a minimum of 3 years of work experience in Health Information Management in an acute care setting. At least 1 year of supervisory experience is preferred. B. License(s) Required - Registered Health Information Administrator, RHIA (preferred) or Registered Health Information Technician, RHITC. Experience/Skills Required -Epic certifications in HIM Deficiency Tracking, HIM Release of Information, HIM Identity, HIM Gallery (Media), HIM Reporting, Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, Basic computer software skills for troubleshooting, and excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal).
