The Laboratory Services Department is hiring! We are searching for aHistology Technicianto work on the Newark campus with periodic rotation to the Wilmington campus.The work hours are Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm. There is On-Callwith a rotation schedule for weekends and holidays; four (4) hours on Saturday morning in the lab and the rest of the weekend on call.
In this role, the technician will process anatomic pathology specimens and prepare tissue blocks and slides for Pathologists.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
Verifies accuracy of specimen identification, accessions cases/specimens and maintains appropriate records
Processes and embeds tissue specimens
Cuts tissue blocks and coverslips slides according to established procedures and standards
Performs routine and special stains according to established procedure
Assists in preparation of frozen sections and performs special procedures
Performs routine maintenance on equipment
Organizes and presents completed cases accurately and according to all time schedules
Follows all CCHS and laboratory safety policies
Completes all annual Laboratory Safety Training, including Safety Manual review and Fire Safety
Answers the telephone courteously and promptly and follows through on all inquiries and requests in a timely manner or escalates appropriately
Assists with training of new employees and students

Education and experience requirements:
Associate's degree as Histotechnician
ASCP certification required
Knowledge of Histology laboratory techniques and procedures
Knowledge of laboratory techniques for safety, infection control, and quality assurance
Skill in manual dexterity and normal color vision
Skill in the use of manual and automated equipment
