Job Description:
FlexStaff is seeking employment for one of our clients, based in Plainview, NY. Our client is seeking a skilled Histotechnician to join their team. As an essential member of the laboratory healthcare professionals, Histotechnicians play a crucial role in the diagnostic process by performing testing and preparing body fluids and tissues. This position offers a direct hire opportunity with the company, with an hourly range of $45-50/hour.
Responsibilities Include:
* Setting up and performing a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory tests and procedures, including Grossing, cutting, embedding, processing, staining, and frozen sections.
* Preparing and testing specimens for examination and reporting results.
* Adhering to written internal and external quality control procedures to ensure the quality of all test results.
* Performing routine and/or preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment and troubleshooting basic instrumentation, chemicals, reagents, stains, solutions, technical problems, and methodologies.
* Working with the team to ensure adequate reagent and supply inventory levels at all times.
* Actively participating in the analyses of NYSDOH and CAP PT samples.
* Participating in required Continuous Professional Education Programs.
* Using infection control practices and procedures, including wearing gloves, goggles, protective masks, and other safety equipment.
* Performing other tasks as required.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution or equivalent.
* Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Technician, Histotechnician, Pathologists Assistant, or equivalent.
* Minimum of 2 - 5 years of work experience preferred.
* ASCP certification preferred.

Our client operates as a 24/7 lab and is currently ONLY looking for 8pm-430am shift.
