Position Dates: July 8, 2024 - October 6, 2024Position Location: Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park (#1013)About us:The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, national forests, wildlife refuges, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, community green spaces, and much more across the country.Position Description:Join the staff at Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park in their efforts to preserve Arkansas's rich and varied history. Job tasks will vary but may include cataloging artifacts or archival collections, historical research, interviewing and transcribing oral histories, developing and presenting educational programs, giving guided tours of historical facilities, and other related tasks. Specific job tasks include restructuring the Morrow House, a 19th-century log structure that served as a Confederate Army headquarters, inventorying and digitizing Prairie Grover Battlefield State Park history, and inventorying a collection of items from the United Daughters of the Confederacy.Minimum Requirements:Be a full-time student in good standing at an Arkansas college/university at the time of application.Have declared a degree of study.Have completed 60 hours of college credit by the time the internship begins.Be an Arkansas resident paying in-state tuition.Demonstrate coursework or knowledge related to work area.Be at least 18 years of age.Pass a criminal background check.Have reliable on-site transportation.Priority will be given to interns from universities who provide course credit hours for internships.
