Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

Position: HMIS & Outreach Coordinator
The Homeless Management Information System Data Coordinator (HMIS) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), including data entry, management, and record-keeping for the Traditional SSVF and SSVF Shallow Subsidy programs. This position is critical in ensuring that accurate demographic information for veterans served by these programs is collected, entered, and maintained within the system.
In addition to data management, the HMIS Data Coordinator will supervise the Outreach Team, ensuring effective outreach efforts to identify homeless veterans who are eligible for services through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. As the primary liaison for outreach efforts, the HMIS/Outreach Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Outreach Team to build and implement strategies for identifying and engaging homeless veterans.

Minimum Qualifications:
- The position requires 60 college credits plus two years' experience in a related field or a satisfactory combination of education and experience.
- Two (2) years of administrative experience and 2 years of data entry experience with demonstrated capacity to perform data entry and basic records management job duties.
- The HMIS/Data Coordinator must have excellent computer skills, including keyboarding, internet; email; Microsoft Office, including Access, Word, Excel, Outlook.
HMIS & Outreach Coordinator Principal Responsibilities:
HMIS Data Entry & Management:- Perform data entry into the HMIS database, ensuring accurate entry of demographic information for all veterans served through the SSVF and SSVF Shallow Subsidy programs.
- Review and verify all data entered into the system to ensure completeness and compliance with agency contracts and VA requirements.
- Maintain organized and accurate records and files related to program participants.
Outreach Supervision:- Supervise and support the Outreach Team in the identification and engagement of homeless veterans eligible for the SSVF program.
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to connect with veterans who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
- Ensure that the Outreach Team follows up with potential participants to provide appropriate services and facilitate program enrollment.
- Conducting outreach activities to connect eligible veterans with housing support services and ensuring they are properly enrolled in the SSVF program.
Compile, analyze, and submit regular reports on HMIS data and program participant demographics on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual basis or as required by VOA and the VA. Ensure that all outreach activities and data collection efforts align with the program's goals and regulatory requirements.Provide basic troubleshooting for the HMIS database and assist with resolving technical issues by liaising with internal and external support desks.Perform other related tasks as assigned to support the SSVF program and the effective delivery of services to veterans.
