About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our growing team at a leading homebuilder in Charlotte, NC. This role is critical to the success of our construction projects, ensuring the procurement of high-quality materials and services at competitive pricing while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

As a Senior Purchasing Specialist, you will work closely with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors to manage the entire purchasing process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage procurement strategies for materials, equipment, and services to support residential construction projects.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors and subcontractors to achieve optimal value.
  • Evaluate and select reliable suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with quality standards and project timelines.
  • Monitor market trends and analyze pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers and design teams to forecast material needs and ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, supplier performance, and cost analyses.
  • Address and resolve any supply chain or vendor-related issues promptly to avoid project delays.
  • Ensure all procurement activities align with company policies, budget requirements, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience in homebuilding, residential construction, or a related industry.
  • Proven track record of managing budgets, negotiating contracts, and fostering supplier relationships.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, industry standards, and local market dynamics.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site environment.
