Position Title: Homebound InstructorSalary Range: $40/hourContract Length: TemporaryReports to: SPED Supervisor, Director of Exceptional LearnersPosition Summary: Functions as a temporary employee in their area of expertise by providing services to meet the needs of students in the areas of academics, activities of daily living, and social-emotional learning. May assist with the design/implementation of intervention programs and/or the development of an individualized curriculum. Works independently within broadly defined work objectives by utilizing a solid understanding of their particular field of specialization. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Engages in effective collaboration with students, families and SBCSC staff to schedule and provide homebound instruction. Works collaboratively with SBCSC staff to develop/implement individualized education and/or instructional plans to deliver targeted instruction to students requiring Homebound instruction as identified in their individual student plans. Conducts formative and summative assessments to guide the development of sound instruction for students requiring Homebound instruction. Provides individualized instruction to students requiring homebound that is connected to IN grade level and/or content connector standards. Serves as a liaison with students, families, and SBCSC staff to gather/document/synthesize data to promote student growth. Helps to facilitate communication and resolution of student issues and problems in concert with families and SBCSC staff. Utilizes a sensitive approach to student development, diversity, special population needs and multicultural issues. Performs other duties as assigned by the Special Education Supervisor/Director to meet the particular needs of the department. Education and/or Experience: Valid Indiana Special Education Teacher License in Mild Intervention, Intense Intervention, or the equivalent in the individual's area of expertise. At least five years of successful classroom experience is preferred. Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies, methodology, and materials for students receiving special education services. Experience collaborating with colleagues to improve instructional practices. Experience dealing with families and students from a diverse range of economic, social and ethnic backgrounds. Language Skills: Ability to communicate verbally and in print effectively and thoughtfully with parents, staff and other stakeholders. Write reports, correspondence, and related documents. Present information and respond to questions from employees, vendors, and other stakeholders. Reasoning Ability: Identify, research, and resolve concerns through knowledge of special education programs and services. Awareness of the need for sensitivity to the emotion related to meeting the needs of students with special needs and their families. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents and other stakeholders.
