This employee is responsible for organizing and implementing an ongoing instructional program to meet the needs of students who are unable to attend school for medical reasons.Certification:Special Education Certification Required with other GE Content preferredDuties of this position include but are not limited to:
- Design a student education program so that it is consistent with the total educational philosophy and goals of the district
- Facilitate a seamless transition between home and school services
- Prepare, implement, and evaluate an educational plan for each student based on individually assessed needs in accordance with district procedures
- Use appropriate assessment instruments pertinent to areas of instruction
- Prepare lesson plans for each student
- Provide specialized instructional techniques through individual sessions designed to meet the educational needs of each student
- Coordinate with general education or special education teachers in order to implement recommended services and curriculum
- Provide parents with home strategies as appropriate for the student
- Communicate effectively with campus staff regarding student performance/progress
- Collaborate with related services staff to implement integrated IEPs as appropriate for each student
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents
- Consistently assess student achievement through formal and/or informal testing
- Coordinate report card grades with classroom teachers
- Complete reports for appropriate local and state educational agencies
- Submit student attendance and weekly hours of homebound services
