Job Summary**In addition to hourly rate, part-time positions will receive $2.50 per hour in lieu of fringe rate.** The Homemaker/Host performs intermediate human support work preparing food for household meals and snacks that are healthy, appetizing and served in a timely, sanitary manner, performing housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and neatness of household, sorting, washing, drying, folding and ironing elders clothing, and related work as apparent or assigned. Primary Responsibilities The following duties are primarily performed and which are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Prepares and/or serves high quality food in accordance with all pertinent safety and health regulations, guidelines, and standards; serves meals to individual residents based on physician orders for the individual's diet.
- Follows menus and recipes correctly; makes necessary or requested substitutions appropriately.
- Understands liberalized therapeutic diets and special food requirements; finds ways to make such modifications palatable and enjoyable.
- Regularly elicits resident's direction in choices of foods, menus, recipes, and presentation.
- Takes temperatures of foods and equipment and maintains proper documentation for regulatory compliance.
- Helps to prepare and serve appropriate snacks and meals.
- Maintains equipment and cooking area to ensure safety and sanitation requirements are met; keeps a clean, tidy, and organized kitchen in compliance with all regulations; cleans when necessary; reports repair and maintenance needs appropriately; facilitates kitchen related activities for residents; ensures that necessary supplies, equipment, and utensils are available; organizes any necessary cleanup activities.
- Consistently follows standard principals of sanitation and universal precautions to preserve food quality and prevent the transition of food-borne illness.
- Assists with taking inventory of, storing, and ordering household grocery supplies.
- Facilitates household activities or assists activity staff or caregivers as needed for group activities in the household; provides limited individual resident activities in the household as time permits.
- Maintains clean spaces in the household, including resident rooms, bathrooms, toilets, sink and shower areas, household common spaces, as well as support spaces and equipment.
- Maintains supply of all materials to meet resident needs in household.
- Launders, labels, mends and folds resident and household items as needed.
- Performs other duties of a comparable level/type, as required.
Minimum QualificationsEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- ServSafe certification within one (1) year of hire.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience cooking, providing housekeeping and janitorial services, doing laundry or household activities.
