Summary The Clinical Director is responsible for the clinical management of the Levine & Dickson Hospice House (LDHH). The Clinical Director ensures continuity, cost effectiveness and quality of clinical operations. The Clinical Director ensures that LDHH meets all clinical regulatory requirements for inpatient and residential hospice care. The Clinical Director facilitates communication and provides clinical leadership to the LDHH clinical staff as well as other areas of VIA as assigned. Consistently models VIA's Core Values. Essential Functions
  • Assumes responsibility for the effective and efficient clinical operations of LDHH.
    • Ensures a high standard of care that is consistent with each profession represented at LDHH.
    • Establishes and monitors bed turnover procedures to maximize census.
    • Monitors for appropriate staffing levels and adjusts as needed based on census.
    • Facilitates quality management activities by assuring clinical staff participation and VIA representation on performance improvement activities.
    • Presents to Administrator ongoing plans for improved efficiency and effectiveness of clinical services provided by LDHH.
    • Responsible for recommending and implementing approved clinical policies and procedures.
    • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional relationships with other providers, patients/families and others who impact the services offered by LDHH.
  • Promotes access to LDHH for patients that have potential to transfer to LDHH.
    • Monitors for potential barriers that may delay or prevent transfers.
    • Ensures communication of bed availability to hospice clinical leadership.
    • Consistently represents LDHH to all internal and external customers with integrity and professionalism.
  • Provides supervision and direction for staff including the RNs, LPNs, Nursing Assistants and Medical Records.
    • Participate in the hiring of clinical staff. Ensures appropriate orientation, evaluation, coaching and development of staff.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for inpatient and residential hospice.
    • Assures implementation of and compliance with all clinical policies and procedures, licensing and certification rules, regulations, and guidelines.
    • Adheres to all policies, procedures and regulations regarding patient care, conduct, safety, fire, security, and risk management.
  • Assumes responsibility for LDHH clinical operations and capital budget development, implementation, and modification.
    • Interface with Administrator and VIA Controller to ensure that billing for clinical services is accurate and timely.
  • May perform other duties as required.
    • Cleans patient rooms as required per patient room cleaning procedure. Ensures all areas of facility are clean and appropriately stocked with supplies. Keeps the family room clean throughout the day. Ensures proper chemicals are used for cleaning different surfaces. Ensures protective equipment is used when working with chemicals, i.e., gloves, glasses.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required; Master's Degree preferred. Or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, and work experience.
  • Minimum 10 years related experience (RN) required with increasing management responsibilities. Related experience includes Director of Nursing Home or Hospice Facility.
  • Leadership experience required.
  • CHPN preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
