Overview Join Our Team as a Hospice Physician We are looking for impeccable leaders to join our team who are committed to creating meaningful patient experiences. As a Hospice Physician you will work with the Administrator, Clinical Supervisors and the patient's primary physician to ensure excellentand safe patient/family care is provided. The Hospice Physician will provide clinical leadership to the guide the care plans and to establish and implement clinical programs to support and meet the patient's goals. The Hospice Physician is responsible for providing medical leadership to the Interdisciplinary Team and the Hospice staff as well as Hospice advocacy in the community. This includes working collaboratively with the RN Clinical Supervisors to develop care protocols; developing, maintaining and monitoring all policies related to the medical activities of the organization; assuring compliance with all regulations and standards relative to medical care and serving as a consultant to the nursing staff in specific patient care issues as well as partner with the branch's pharmacy team to develop and maintain appropriate medication regimens. The Hospice Physician is also an active participant in the Quality Management process and Governing Body. This is an hourly contract 1099 opportunity where you can anticipate 50-75 patient census and roughly 25 to 45 total hours of work monthly consisting of the following: In person meetings at the local office every 14 days Managing clinical needs/admissions/on-call via phone/remotely Brief documentation requirements Shared after hours call rotation with other physicians Potential NP collaboration Malpractice coverage for Hospice Administrative duties Electronic health record E-prescribing app system Work with interdisciplinary team of nurses, social work, chaplains And just like all of our team members, our Hospice Physicians have access to our supportive leadership team and professional development opportunities with plenty of room for advancement. Qualifications A heart to serve patients and families and a passion for providing the best possible care Education: Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy required. Current unrestricted State license to practice medicine. Board certification in family practice, internal medicine, geriatrics or palliative care preferred. Hospice Medical Director Board Certification encouraged. Experience: Preferred 5 years' experience in health care, with a combination of acute care and hospice care/public health. Prior supervisor/management experience. Experience with terminally ill patients. Experience in effective pain management and symptom control. Requires demonstrated interpersonal, supervisory, and management skills with ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrates proven decision making and financial management skills. Exhibits working knowledge of regulations and reimbursement in hospice care as well as proven leadership abilities. Respected by physician peers and has the ability and willingness to act as a liaison from the hospice to other physicians. Commitment to hospice philosophy and care techniques. If part of medical group, other members share the hospice philosophy and hospice care techniques. Required: Reliable transportation.
