This position supports the Department by providing timely and accurate specimen receipt, accessioning, preparation, and/or processing for analysis on various tissue and body fluids. - High School Diploma
- Laboratory Experience.
- Must possess working knowledge of laboratory protocols and skill in the application of such.
- Must possess working knowledge ofmedical terminology, basic human anatomy and technical knowledge to complete assigned tasks.
- Manual dexterity for pipetting specimens and operating automated equipment.
- Knowledge of basic chemistry and biology for understanding methods used in the laboratory.
- Reading skills to understand procedures, protocols, and policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Science Background
- Prior experience in an Anatomic Pathology Laboratory setting (e.g. Histology, Grossing, Cytology)
- Possession of technical vocabulary to meet departmental business needs.
- Possess mathematic skills for performing routine laboratory calculations.
- Adhere to UCDHS and Department of Pathology guidelines concerning rules of conduct, safety, and all applicable policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Possess tact and diplomacy to effectively deal with ward, clinic, laboratory personnel and individuals outside of the hospital environment in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to prioritize work and several projects/tasks simultaneously and complete work/projects/tasks in a timely manner.

Department Overview The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is a large, diverse multi-site department whose mission is to create a healthier world through bold innovation in public health, education, technology and research.
