Organization Overview: The Rockefeller University Hospital is funded by the National Institutes of Health and has 20 patient beds for clinical research. The Hospital provides researchers with an opportunity to conduct clinical studies and offers both normal volunteers and people with diseases under study the opportunity to stay in the hospital and help to contribute to important advances in science. The Hospital has an inpatient unit as well as an outpatient center where prospective patients are screened,and many outpatient studies are conducted. The Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day with professional nurses and has nutritional research,social work,art and recreation departments,and a radiology suite,as well as its own research pharmacy. The Hospital IT Manager's primary responsibility is to manage and streamline the operation of the Hospital IT department and ensure it aligns with the business objectives and mission of the organization. This individuals principal goals are to develop and manage application portfolios for each department and attain all Hospital IT service level agreements for the user community within the organization. The Manger of Hospital IT is responsible for management and oversight of the Hospital Electronic Health Record as well as planning, coordinating, directing, and designing all operational activities of the Hospital IT department. The Manager Hospital IT will provide direction and support for Hospital IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. The Manager of Hospital IT will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the hospital.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage and streamline the operation of the Hospital IT department and ensure it aligns with the business objectives and mission of the organization
  • Manage Hospital IT budget over 1.5 million dollars annually
  • Lead the support the Hospital Electronic Health Record as well as plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the Hospital IT department
  • Provide direction and support for Hospital IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations
  • Work closely with decision makers of other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization
  • Directly supervise three (3) Systems Analysts, one (1) Scientific Programmer, and One (1) Technical Project Lead
  • Handles recruitment, scheduling, supervision, development, evaluation, and if needed disciplinary actions for their team
Qualifications:

Required Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Technology including at least 2 years of experience in a healthcare IT, informatics, or research science/clinical hospital required
  • Background and familiarity in systems analysis and design, development, implementation, and programming of computer systems
  • Strong organizational, leadership, interpersonal, analytical, verbal and written skills
  • Ability to translate verbal instructions into action are a must
  • Experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development
  • Willing to work occasional off hours and on weekends when needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of electronic health records and interfacing with different applications
  • Advanced technical skillset, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Oracle/SQL and familiarity in reporting tools i.e. Crystal, Jasper iReport and willingness to gain SME (subject matter expertise) in protocol development, study applications and submissions, IRB workflows, and study/subject management.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Compensation Range: Min: USD $140,000.00/Yr. Compensation Range: Max: USD $170,000.00/Yr.
