Job Description:
WellStone is North Alabama's most comprehensive behavioral healthcare provider serving over 13,000 persons annually throughout Northern Alabama, with offices in Huntsville and Cullman. We are a non-profit community organization that offers a wide range of services for every phase of life, from children to older adults.What we are looking for:
  • Master's Degree in a mental health discipline, License required
  • Knowledge of the nature of addiction
  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders
  • Knowledge of cultural diversity
  • Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and as well as non-violent crisis intervention practice
  • 1-2 years experience in the mental health related fields preferred
  • Driver's License valid in Alabama and good MVR
  • Knowledge of community Resources and Services preferred
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
What you will be doing :
  • Assist new clients and hospital discharges with obtaining services through facilitating warm hand off follow up with the client and the provider to ensure engagement.
  • Assist clients in navigating healthcare and social service systems to obtain transportation, local resources, and other healthcare services.
  • Will provide outreach to local active-duty armed forces members and veterans and facilitate connection to the Veterans Care Coordinator and engagement with veteran specific resources.
  • Provides effective clinical assessment of new or returning clients when needed.
  • Utilizes assessment data to support a current DSM diagnosis
  • Formulates appropriate next steps in a plan for care along with the client and family as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to de-escalate or resolve the situation.
  • Effectively collaborates with the treatment team and outside sources in the delivery of clinical services.
  • Provides on-site evaluations for hospitals, probate court, etc, and provides least restrictive treatment recommendations.
  • Facilitates services that prevent commitment.
  • Participates in crisis intervention facility -wide.
  • Adheres to professional code of ethics and ensure compliance with external administrative and clinical standards of care and applicable laws, including DMH, Medicaid, and State & Federal Laws.
  • Effectively demonstrates the application of required competencies.
  • Seek clinical supervision and consultation as needed.
  • Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement.
  • Courteous and respectful attitudes towards clients, visitors, and co-workers.
