Hospital Welcomes Dr. Daniel Hunt Colorectal SurgeonNew York Downtown Hospital is pleased to welcome Daniel Hunt, M.D., as a member of its surgical team. Dr. Hunt is also a member of the Department of Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical Center. Steven G. Friedman, M.D., Chairman of the Department of Surgery at New York Downtown Hospital, said, “We are excited to have Dr. Hunt join our staff as he will support our strong colorectal service. Dr. Hunt's specialization in the field of transanal surgery for rectal and colonic tumors will maintain New York Downtown Hospital's position on the front line in the battle against rectal and colon cancer.”After earning his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Hunt completed a residency in General Surgery at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center, and a second residency in Colorectal Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Hunt went on to complete two fellowships: a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Surgical Oncology Research Fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College and a Minimally Invasive Colorectal Fellowship at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.Dr. Hunt is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in colorectal cancer, cancer prevention, laparoscopic colon microsurgery, transanal microscopic surgery, colorectal disorders, bowel dysfunction, and sphincter preservation for Crohn's Disease.Dr. Hunt delivers state-of-the-art care using minimally invasive techniques to speed recovery.
