Summary:

Hospitalists are a vital part of the healthcare team, collaborating with specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes during their hospital stay.

What s in it for me?

It is Monday- Friday, no weekends, holidays, or call unless you decide you want to make extra money. This is an opportunity to practice medicine the way you think it should be. There is no rush to discharge patients, the goal is to treat them and do what needs to be done to make them well again. It s a 35 hour work week choosing to take call will increase the overall comp package, but call is voluntary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough medical evaluations and assessments of admitted patients to diagnose and treat their medical conditions effectively.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans for patients based on their medical conditions, test results, and medical history. Coordinate with specialists when needed.
  • Hospital Care: Monitor and manage patients throughout their hospital stay, overseeing their progress, and making necessary adjustments to the treatment plan as needed.
  • Consultations: Provide consultations to other medical specialties and healthcare teams to ensure coordinated care for complex cases.
  • Patient Communication: Effectively communicate with patients and their families, explaining diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognosis in a clear and compassionate manner.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work collaboratively with nurses, pharmacists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay updated with the latest medical advancements and best practices.
  • Adherence to Regulations: Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical guidelines, and relevant laws while providing medical care.
  • Continuing Education: Engage in ongoing medical education and professional development to stay current with medical advancements and maintain licensure.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine.
  • Active medical license in the state of Rhode Island or eligibility for licensure.
  • Strong clinical skills and diagnostic abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Dedication to patient care, safety, and satisfaction.
