The club features an 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts, swimming, a fitness center, and clubhouse for member entertaining, dining and banquets. Our main focus is providing our members and their guests with outstanding facilities and the highest standard of service. Job Summary The host/ess is an entry-level position that works in one of our dining establishments; they are the first employee members and their guests come into contact with and are a personal representation of the overall service and hospitality of the staff of the restaurant. While guests are waiting to be seated or waiting for take-out orders to be completed, it is the job of the hostess to ensure that the guests are made comfortable and kept informed of the status of their orders or wait times. This job does not require an advanced education, however, in order to be successful incumbents must possess the interpersonal skills necessary to interact frequently with members and their guests; must be able to read and interpret seating charts, menus, and other printed materials. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and special events. Standard hours of operation are 11:00 am to 10:00 pm Tuesday through Sunday, and 7:00 am to 10:00 pm Saturday and Sunday; however, hours may vary due to special circumstances or events. Essential Duties
  • Answers incoming phone calls, responds to general inquiries, takes reservations.
  • Greets arriving members and their guests, welcomes them into the establishment and seats them.
  • Monitors open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables, estimates wait times, monitors the waiting list, and ensures that the needs of the members and their guests are met while they are waiting.
  • Assists in rearranging and/or moving tables together to accommodate large parties.
  • Attends staff meetings including pre-serve (line-up) sessions and in-service training.
  • Performs clean-up and closing duties.
  • Assisting with special events as needed.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and complies with uniform and dress codes.
  • Performs other related duties that may be assigned by a manager.
Requirements Physical Demands
  • Must be able to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions.
  • Must be able to comfortably lift and carry 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motion and activities (walking, standing, kneeling, bending) and stand on your feet for an entire shift (excluding lunch and/or breaks).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Within 90 days of hire, must obtain and maintain current certification(s) in: ANSI Florida Food Handler and Florida Responsible Vendor Server Training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of work experience in a full-service restaurant or hospitality related industry.
  • Experience in a fine dining/upscale restaurant atmosphere.
