Job Description:

Connections Host Home Program is community-based model of crisis housing for youth between 12–18 years-old. The Host Homes Specialist, along with the Director of Family Engagement, operates the host home model throughout Snohomish County. This position recruits and trains hosthomes as well as provides support for youth who have entered the Connections Program. The Host Homes Specialist will work to create a supportive and welcoming environment for both youth and host home families.

Host Homes Specialist Duties & Responsibilities

Full-Time | On-site

Wage: $22-$24/hr | +$1.50/hr pay differential for multi-lingual skills with additional paperwork

  • Assists in recruiting, training and supporting Host Homes
  • Present to community groups about the Host Home program and how to get involved as a Host Home
  • Partner with youth in host homes to provide trauma-informed support and case management
  • Help provide mediation and crisis intervention to youth and Host Home families.
  • Meet with families throughout Snohomish County to support youth and Host Homes
  • Willingness to be available for on-call emergency situations in Host Homes if they arise
  • Complete program paperwork and data entry to meet necessary deadlines
  • Support reconciliation of youth with their families

General:

  • 1+ years of experience working with at risk youth as a Case Manager or Advocate
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Possess a valid Washington State driver's license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Clear background check with DCYF.
  • Open commitment to serving, supporting, accepting, and collaborating with individuals of all races, ages, genders, backgrounds, political opinions, beliefs, sexual orientations, criminal histories, citizenship or marital statuses, and religious beliefs.
  • Confidence and skill at connecting with community members to recruit new host homes
  • Commitment to integrating youth voice
  • Understanding of Trauma Informed Care standards
  • Experience with mentoring and/or supporting families
  • Proven ability to problem solves and facilitate tough conversations
  • Experience networking and cross-agency collaborating highly desirable
  • Must be proficient in crisis intervention/de-escalation to provide proper care to youth and young adults who are experiencing trauma or are in crisis. Ability to effectively assess situations and access emergency services when appropriate

Physical:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with all internal and external clients
  • Be able to hear voices and alarms.
  • Ability to read and comprehend a variety of materials
  • Ability to operate phone, computer, and record information for files and logs
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to travel for various distances through urban or rural environments in various weather conditions
  • Must have ability to run up and down indoor and outdoor stairwells in case of youth emergency.
  • Go up and down stairs

Compensation details: 22-24 Hourly Wage
