POSITION PURPOSE: We are seeking a hospitality focused and organized individual to join our team as a Host/Hostess. The Host/Hostess plays a crucial role in being the first- and last-person guest interact with. This position is responsible for greeting guests, answering phones, managing reservations,and escorting guests to their seats.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: - Welcome and greet guests warmly upon their arrival and assign them to a wait list if necessary.
- Monitor the wait list, providing accurate wait times and ensuring guest satisfaction while waiting for their table.
- Escort and seat guests at their tables, starting their dining experience with an enjoyable experience.
- Assigning guests to tables they prefer, while keeping table rotation in mind to ensure a smooth flow of service.
- Receive, confirm and log reservations via phone, in-person or through our online reservation system, Sevenrooms, while monitoring any special requests or celebrations.
- Communicate VIP guest arrivals or special requests to dining room staff to ensure guests enjoy a polished and seamless dining experience.
- Listen, evaluate and respond to complaints and assist in resolving guest issues as efficiently as possible.
- Maintain a professional and polished appearance while exceeding guest expectations.
- Deliver the highest level of guest service by staying alert to all guest needs and executing requests to the best of your ability.
- Cater to guests that may require extra attention such as children or the elderly.
- Maintain a clean and presentable reception area, following all sanitation and safety guidelines.
- Greet guests upon their departure, showing gratitude and ensuring they had a memorable dining experience.
- Complete other tasks as instructed by management.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS - High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience as a host in fine dining or upscale restaurant settings.
- Knowledge of using operating systems like Opera, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with guests, colleagues, and management.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including knowledge of scheduling software and point-of-sale systems.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of customer service, professionalism, and integrity.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION: - Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Endurance to withstand long hours of standing, walking, and repetitive motions.
- Lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Flexibility to bend, stoop, reach, and perform physical tasks.
- Adherence to proper lifting techniques and ergonomics to prevent strain or injury while performing job duties.
