Job Description:

The Hot Runner Mold Technician is responsible for the accurate diagnosis, repair, and assembly of hot runners used with injection molding tools (molds) in the plastic molding industry. At Monoflo International, the role of a Hot Runner Mold Technician is crucial for the success of our Tooling Group, which supports our Production Group by maintaining and servicing injection molds. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Perform accurate removal and assembly of mold hot runners
    • Diagnosis root cause of hot runner system issues
      • Hydraulics include cylinders, hoses, fittings, and seals
      • Water system includes cooling circuits and water lines
      • Air system includes valves, cylinders, seals, fittings, and hoses
    • Read electrical schematics and heater diagrams to properly wire heaters to plugs
    • Read electrical schematics to wire core signals, switches and other mold sensors
    • Read hot runner diagrams to identify zones, gate locations, plugs, and dimensions
    • Understand diagram symbols and numbering standards
    • Identify gate system abnormalities such as oblong bushings and improper pin shift
    • Clean hot runner flow channels and cooling channels
    • Perform repairs and/or replacement of gate bushings, pins, nozzles, inlets, thermocouples and heaters
    • Remove hot runner internal obstructions causing flow issues
    • Use a variety of measuring devices to obtain critical dimensions
    • Use a variety of hand tools
    • Read and understand mold markings for water, air, and hydraulics
    • Perform verification tests during assembly process to confirm fit and proper sealing
    • Obtain crane certification to use rigging equipment to move molds
    • Inform the Tooling Manager of questions and concerns regarding any task assigned
    • Follow safety programs when operating equipment and use PPE
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3 Years experience maintaining injection molding tools (molds)
  • Ability to interpret and follow electrical schematics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management to meet target dates
