Hotel Handyman/LaborerDallas, TXDescriptionFull-time.Hours: 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm weekdaysHours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm weekends and holidaysMust be available to work either eight hour shift shown above as the schedule will vary from week to week.The Hotel Handyman/Laborer is responsible for performing minor repairs, to maintain the upkeep of the Cooper Hotel. Maintains and repairs physical structure of buildings, equipment, and grounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Performs routine maintenance around the buildings such as fixing structural issues, or damage, for example, minor window, door, or wall repair.• Conducts minor maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and replace circuit breakers, etc.)• Repairs broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.• Maintains OSHA compliance standards and enforces safety regulations.• Works with other departments as requested, including moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.• Provides expertise and assistance for special programs and events.• Confers with management to resolve maintenance problems.• Responds quickly in the event of an emergency, notifies appropriate personnel, and follows safety protocols.• Maintains HVAC and plumbing systems to ensure functionality.• Completes all duties with the highest level of customer service to both external and internal customers.• Identifies issues and fixes potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.• Works with and communicates needs to vendors.• Utilizes daily check list to review maintenance needs.• Maintains a positive attitude and adheres to the Cooper purpose and core values.• Follows all Cooper policies and standard operating procedures.• Completes duties on site with consistent, regular, and reliable attendance.• Accomplishes other duties as assigned.RequirementsThe ideal Hotel Handyman/Laborer candidate will possess:
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems .
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices.
- Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, including lawn mowers, small hand tools, leaf blowers and power washers.
- Demonstrated experience as a maintenance technician.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent manual dexterity and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Two years of experience and/or training in maintenance technology.
- Certificate in building maintenance technology or relevant field is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, twisting, and/or walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into and work in small confined, awkward spaces.
