Agency Overview: The Safe Center LI, Inc. (TSCLI) is the leading provider of services to victims of interpersonal violence in Nassau County. The agency provides comprehensive services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and human trafficking. The Safe Center is a thought leader that seeks to develop and implement innovative interventions to meet the multifaceted needs of victims and survivors. Description: The Hotline Advocate responds to calls and our text/chat feature assisting those that contact our 24-hour hotline or present in-person at The Safe Center seeking support and assistance from the agency. The agency hotline provides services relating to child abuse, human trafficking, domestic violence and rape and sexual assault. The Hotline Advocate reports to the Senior Director of Hotline and Housing services and receives task supervision from the Hotline and DVL-Police Project Supervisors. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Answer hotline calls and respond to text chats from those reaching out for services and support and attend to people that present in-person seeking support.Provide supportive listening and crisis intervention.Help to develop safety plans for each individual or families' unique circumstances.Screening and connecting domestic violence victims to housing at either the agency's Safe Home or other emergency housing resources and/or placement in motels as needed.Provide Information and referrals.Outreach via phone to those identified as the victims in law enforcement reports to offer support, information, and referrals.Case notes, documentation, and other data entry in the agency's database.Participate in individual and group supervision as well as department and agency meetings.Attending training courses offered within and outside of the agency.Provide coverage if needed at the Department of Social Services (DSS) for the Domestic Violence Liaison role, this entails working with domestic violence survivors at DSS to screen and access for services. Training will be provided.Other duties as assigned by supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in social work or related field, or equivalent work experience preferred.Experience in the field of interpersonal violence and trauma preferred.Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish both written and orally.The use of a car for occasional trips, meetings and other business-related matters.Overnight travel may be required to attend training. Hours, Compensation and Benefits: Full-Time: 35 hours per weekSalary $43,000 if bilingual, $38,000 non-bilingual.The agency's compensation package includes medical, dental and vision insurance along with a generous paid time off policy.Access to National EAP services.
