JOB TITLE: Laramie County Upward Bound TutorJOB PURPOSE: Tutors assist Upward Bound participants to be successful academically. The primary responsibility of an Upward Bound tutor is to support participants to become more independent learners in order to persist in high school and reach their goals of pursuing college. Tutors provide individual or group tutoring to students across a broad range of courses based on areas of expertise. Tutors will meet with students to clarify and review concepts taught in class and help students solve specific problems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide tutoring to Upward Bound participants in Laramie County High Schools (Cheyenne, WY) both in person and remotely.
- Keep track of hours spent working with each Upward Bound participant.
- Assist Upward Bound participants with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research, and other academic tasks.
- Accommodate participants' different learning styles to help them understand key classroom concepts.
- Teach skills to improve academic performance, such as study strategies, note-taking skills, and test preparation and test taking strategies.
- Demonstrate academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments, including research and writing tactics.
- Provide students with positive and constructive feedback.
- Maintain in-depth understanding of subjects tutored.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
