SIGN ON BONUS: $10k bonus for a 1 year commitment. $20k for 2 year commitment. Bonus terms will be discussed and agreed to upon hire. Job Code/Title: House Supervisor Department Name: Nursing Reports to (Title): Nurse Manager FLSA: Non Exempt Summary: The House Supervisor is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients ranging in age from 18 years to geriatric on their assigned shift. The House Supervisor shares the responsibility for coordinating with any agencies providing contract nursing services with the Nurse Manager and/or Chief Clinical Officer. The House Supervisor acts as the liaison between the clinical nursing staff and administration. POSITION SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES •Scheduler/ Administrative Assistant •Certified Nurse Assistant •Patient Care Technician •Unit Secretary •Registered Nurse POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications: •Ability to project a Professional Image. •Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards and proven experience with nursing practice in job situations. •Sound knowledge of nursing practice and bedside clinical knowledge. •Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. •Strong organizational and analytical skills. Exceptional leadership abilities. •Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (Word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, EHR, etc.) Education and/or Experience: •Graduate of an accredited nursing program with active RN license in the state in which you work. •Bachelors of Nursing Degree preferred. •Five (5) years progressive acute care or rehabilitation nursing experience in critical care, emergency room or step-down/telemetry units. •Requires a minimum of three (3) years supervision or charge nurse experience. •CRRN certification preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: •Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment. •Must maintain current ACLS certification throughout employment. •Rehab Nursing Certificate desired. LANGUAGE SKILLS English is the primary language of the facility. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of executives, managers, clients, customers, and the public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. Also, the ability to create and interpret graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form. Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in statistical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the key functions. •Supervises and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Department which includes but is not limited to: assessment, evaluation, planning, and administering a variety of medical care activities designed to assist patients to return to their maximum medical improvement. •Evaluates patient reactions to programs and writes progress reports. •Performs chart audits. Plan, coordinate and implement processes, procedures and programs consistent with national, federal, and/or state guidelines. •Provides clinical support to the nursing staff by acting as a mentor and a role model. •Collaborates with hospital leaders, physicians and other team members to provide optimum services to the patients. •Coordinates and delegates the delivery of care provided by selected members of the health care team. Consults with Physician(s). •Plays a major role in employee and patient education to enhance knowledge, skills and necessary behaviors to achieve quality outcomes. •Communicates effectively and appropriately to patient, family and other health care providers. •Provides ongoing education to all nursing staff as required by hospital policy, in conjunction with local, state and federal regulatory agencies. •Maintains clinical competency by assuming responsibility for acquiring knowledge and experiences and integrate, as appropriate, into patient care delivery based upon specific patient needs. •Participates in General Hospital Orientation, on boarding, orientation and education of personnel and students. •Adopts an approach to hospital-wide performance improvement that ensures important processes and activities are measured, assessed, and improved. •Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates all intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities. •Acts as the designated on-site hospital administrator for after normal business hours. •Responsible for the assessment of all requests for administrative on-call contacts during his/her shift. •Responsible for all activities within the hospital in absence of the Administrator or department managers. •Responsible for providing a safe and effective environment for customer satisfaction, including physicians, employees, patients and families. •Responsible for direct patient care assignment(s) as needed to provide safe patient-staff ratios. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES •Assists in managing all clinical nursing services within the hospital. •Demonstrates satisfactory level of interpersonal skills to interact with facility staff, Administration, patients, families, customers, vendors, and government agencies. •Demonstrates and understands the importance of and respect for the rights, dignity, and individuality of each patient in all interactions. •Demonstrates honesty and integrity at all times in the care and use of patient and hospital property. •Knowledge of emergency and disaster procedures of the facility. •Demonstrates respect for co-workers and responds to needs of patients by complying with hospital policies. •Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities and complete duties within allotted time. •Appropriately access the resources of the company's corporate offices for consultation and program development support. Seek out external resources through conferences, workshops, etc. as necessary.
