Description: Per Diem: 12 hour Nights Position Purpose: The House Supervisor has expertise in acute care criteria for inpatient hospitalization, detailed knowledge of the scope of practice of each nursing unit and a working knowledge of operations, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of sound nursing practice, overall hospital administration, emergency management, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, negotiation, and delegation are essential to effective performance.
What you will do: *Provides leadership to the health care team with an emphasis on coordination of care and throughput of patients. Proactively identifies and removes barriers that impede the progress of care. Provides coordination and communication of patients with the Unit to ensure continuity throughout the continuum of care. Sees that beds are assigned timely and makes bed placement a priority. * Functions as House Supervisor in problem-solving with all other ancillary personnel, departments. Demonstrates and maintains effective communication/collaboration skills with the multidisciplinary health care team. Provides feedback to Managers/Leaders regarding issues or concerns. Acts as liaison between physicians, patients, families, Nursing Managers when necessary *Is successful in crisis management, must be able to assimilate information quickly and utilize chain of command as needed.*Performs systematic rounds of nursing units to evaluate patient care delivery, assure compliance of nursing units with standards of care on off hours and weekends when leadership not present.* Accountable to organizational goals and metrics such as but not limited to LOS, Patient Satisfaction, Joint Commission readiness and Quality Metrics.*Attends all codes (on off hours and weekends) and responds to all patient emergencies providing administrative direction and follow up throughout shift.* Coordinates admission of patients from all service locations and support departments, from other healthcare facilities, and from unit to unit in the absence of the admit nurse.* Monitors anticipated and pending discharges. Ensures utilization and availability of bed coordination of newly admitted and transferred patients.* Reviews staffing to determine immediate needs and anticipates staffing needs for future shifts. Adjusts as necessary.* Works collaboratively with the Patient Access department to see that direct admits are admitted timely and efficiently.* Works collaboratively with Unit Care Managers related to issues of bed placement, utilization of resources and appropriate levels of care.* In absence of admit nurse, identifies transfer issues, utilizing knowledge of EMTELA Laws, clinical information provided and extensive communication with other facilities.* Communicates verbally and in written reports all pertinent information to managers, directors and Administrator on call as appropriate.* Leads safety meetings on weekends and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications: - A bachelor's degree in nursing is required with a minimum of 3 years clinical experience. If does not have a bachelor's degree needs to agree to start a bachelor's Program within 12 months and complete within 5 years.
- Case Management experience a plus.
Licensure/Certification * Licensed RN in the State of Florida is required. * Current BLS from AHA required. ACLS preferred.
