As an agency found on principles of inclusion, Mary Cariola Center fosters an environment where all are welcome, and our differences are respected and valued.Duties and ResponsibilitiesFacilitate active participation of the residents by implementing their individual program plan in their home and communityImplement behavior support plans and Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-r) accurately and consistentlyEngage in any necessary lifting, moving and/or positioning tasks for residentsFacilitate improved gross motor, fine motor and range of motion skillsPromote and facilitate self-care and personal hygieneAssist residents with bathing, toileting, dressing and eating as needed including modeling appropriate behavior, using therapeutic equipment and/or therapeutic feedingFoster receptive and expressive communication through many different avenues including sign language, pictograms and electronic devicesAccurately and consistently complete all required documentation in a continuous manner by utilizing PrecisionCare software and in written form, when necessaryPurchase all household items (groceries, linens, furniture, small appliances, client need items etc.) as needed according to purchasing proceduresMaintain expenditures of all purchases and spending within the designated budgetOrganize food preparation schedules for all meals in accordance with dietary needs as written on the master menu working with the dietician or designee as neededOrganize a schedule of all household tasks and ensure completion by residential direct support staffPerform housekeeping tasks when needed including but not limited to: meal preparation, cleaning, laundry and shoppingFollow HIPAA confidentiality lawsMonitor petty cash expenditures and assure that necessary banking procedures are routinely completedComplete a Personal Expenditure Plan (PEP) and a Money Management Assessment (MMA) for each resident annuallyMaintain each resident's bank account including managing direct deposits of Social Security benefits, making monthly rent payment for each resident by the 5th of each month and opening accounts when necessaryMonitor spending of the residents' personal allowance within the established guidelines by maintaining an accurate record of all transactions, depositing all checks in a timely manner and completing an annual report for parents/guardiansAssist each resident in participating in spending their money as they choose and learning how to manage their money with individualized and person-centered goalsEnsure the Residence Manager and Maintenance Supervisor are aware when appliance or home repair is neededProvide or arrange for the care of any residents who are unable to attend school, work or adult day servicesProvide or arrange for transportation for any resident as necessaryAttend and actively participate in regular staff meetings and any other meetings scheduled or requested by the Residence ManagerAdhere to the Code of Ethics for DSPsImplement fire, safety and emergency procedures in accordance with agency and program standardsAdminister medications to residents in accordance with the Residential Medication policies and proceduresAssume shift supervisory responsibilities when requestedAll other duties as assigned by managerMinimum QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of ageAbility to read, write, speak and understand English including interpreting documents such as safety rules and policy and procedure manualsMinimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilitiesAbility to participate in various physical and recreation activities outside the residencePossess a current and valid NYS drivers license with an acceptable driving recordHigh School Diploma or GEDCertifications and TrainingsNYS Medication AdministrationSCIP-rCPRFirst AidAll other trainings mandated by the Office for people with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD)*Note: all certifications and trainings will be provided by the agency if you do not already possess themEEO Statement:We are an equal opportunity employer.All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, domestic violence victim status, veteran or disability status.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
