DBHDS operates 12 facilities: 8 behavioral health facilities for adults, a training center, a psychiatric facility for children and adolescents, a medical center, and a center for behavioral rehabilitation. State facilities provide highly structured, intensive services for individuals with mental illness, intellectual disability, or need substance use disorder services. This position will work at Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute, a 72-bed Joint Commission accredited State Mental Health Facility, located in Danville, VA. The physical and mental requirements of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Extensive lifting, bending, and reaching in cleaning assigned work areas; continuous mobility throughout hospital; extensive repetitive upper body movement in sweeping, mopping, scrubbing/washing, pushing equipment cart/utilizing large pieces of equipment; observing/determining cleaning priority or patient units; observing/ensuring patient safety while on patient units; communicating with hospital staff and supervisors; reading, comprehending, and implementing MSDS sheets, cleaning schedules/charts, cleaning solution instructions; exposure to various cleaning solutions/products daily; manual dexterity in documenting completed work and labeling cleaning solutions. Some of the duties of this position include:Performs dust mopping/wet mopping/auto scrubber daily applying proper cleaning techniques and proper use of germicidal chemicals and solutions.Maintains and upkeeps floors by routine buffing and top scrubbing and applying finish as needed.Cleans and extracts carpets at scheduled times and as needed. Monitors condition of all hard surface floors to determine needs and works with applicable staff to plan and schedule work.The floor tech will be responsible for the maintenance of all floor areas, and for sustaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. This will include spot removal from carpets, perform bonnet, and extraction carpet cleaning. Scheduled routine cleaning and special projects as assigned.This position requires working an alternative shift as assigned to ensure safety and minimize disruptions.Minimum QualificationsPrior work experience in the use of industrial grade floor care equipment used to buff floors, strip and refinish floors, buff/top scrub/apply finish to floors, and steam clean/extract carpet. Knowledge and application of cleaning instructions according to policies and procedures.
