The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis is to provide comfort, care and a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children. Our objective is to enable families to practice family-centered care by providing them with all of the basic comforts of home.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis has a full-time Housekeeper position open. This position is part of a mission-focused team of professionals providing compassion and hospitality to families with seriously ill children.

This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, inviting, and safe House for our families, volunteers and staff.

As part of RMHC, the position collaborates with the team members to achieve position and organization goals in support of the RMHC mission and Core Values.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be able to follow daily schedules
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions is required especially when following product usage directions and using cleaning products
  • Dependability is required
  • Flexibility in scheduled time and location is preferred
  • Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests.
  • Experience working with volunteers preferred
  • Ability to interact with guests in a pleasant, friendly way.
  • Ability to perform consistent work to the highest of standards.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English preferred.

Schedule

  • Sunday – Thursday 1:00pm-9:00pm

Essential Functions

  • Follows daily cleaning schedules, which include bathrooms, kitchens, trash, door windows, entry floors, common areas, rooms and laundry as needed.
  • Assists with cleaning of other House as needed
  • Prepare bedrooms for incoming families when volunteers are not available
  • Inventory necessary supplies
  • Inform Family Services Manager of damage or wear of flooring, woodwork, furnishings or other household accessories
  • Inform Family Services Manager of any repairs or problems with bathroom or kitchen fixtures or appliances or when cleaning equipment needs maintenance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance

Nonessential Functions

  • Assists with special projects, as requested

Physical Demands

Must be able to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects. Must be able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and lifting of moderate to heavy weight material up to 50 lbs. Must be able to carry 25 pounds upstairs. Must be able to frequently climb stairs, including up to 4 flights, and frequently walk distances up to approximately 80 yards. Must be able to travel between RMH locations as needed.
