Housekeeper
JOB SUMMARY:
The Housekeeper cleans and services an assigned portion of the facility including furniture, floors, and equipment. Maintains the assigned area to ensure it is clean, sanitary, safe, orderly, and attractive at all times. Follows all Villa policies and procedures.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assembles necessary cleaning supplies and equipment on housekeeping cart.
Follows daily work routine and cleans assigned areas.
Gathers and disposes of trash ensuring plastic liners are in containers at all times.
Vacuums, dust/wet mops, and sanitizes floors.
Empties trash bins and maintains a clean environment surrounding the dumpster.
Responsible for the safe and proper mixing of chemicals. Use of proper personal protective equipment is required.
Cleans walls, ceilings, windows, stairwells, hallways, metal fixtures, light fixtures, tops of windows, doorframes, and other high places using a step ladder if necessary.
Cleans and polishes bathrooms sinks, tubs, mirrors, toilets, walls, and floors.
Restock paper, plastic, and soap supplies as needed.
Hangs draperies, privacy curtains, etc. as necessary.
Keeps utility room and housekeeping closets in order and sanitized.
Cleans and stores materials and equipment safely and properly.
Follows established sanitation and safety standards.
Safety:
Knows and follows facility rules.
Demonstrates proper use of equipment. Reports equipment needs or repairs.
Follows facility-smoking policies.
Follows facility dress and personal hygiene policies.
Attends and participates in in-service classes and other meetings as assigned.
Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and acts in accordance with Villas Corporate Compliance Program.
Treats all residents, visitors, and staff with courtesy.
Works overtime, holiday and weekend hours as scheduled.
Resident Rights
Knows and helps the residents/patients exercise and/or protect their rights.
Reports resident/patient complaints to management.
Maintains confidentiality of resident/patient information.
HIPAA
Follows and adheres to Villas policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Meets all health requirements imposed by law.
Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other facility staff. Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Previous institutional Housekeeping experience preferred.
Prior experience working in a long-term care facility a plus.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
Meet all health requirements as needed.
