The Opportunity
Our location in Abbott Park, IL, currently has an opportunity for a Housekeeping Associate.
The Housekeeping Associate will perform facility cleaning and support required for the manufacturing and research environment at Abbott Lake County. This is a second shift opportunity from 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm.
What You'll Do
- Requires adherence to quality and regulatory requirements (as referenced in GMP's, SOP's, DEA, OSHA, DEP and Abbott standards). Performs regulated cleaning procedures in the following area types on a daily basis: production laboratories, manufacturing support laboratories, research laboratories, and common support areas such as lavatories, office area and break rooms for the above mentioned areas.
- Required to perform cross contamination cleaning methods in areas that contain radioactive or biohazardous materials or areas that require microbial control.
- Required to prepare radioactive and biohazard housekeeping equipment for autoclaving or disposal.
- Prepares floor and wall mops for autoclaving used in microbial controlled areas.
- Monitor waste for radioactive contamination and identify biohazardous waste.
- Pick and dispose of cold waste from production laboratories, manufacturing support laboratories, research laboratories, and common support areas.
- Required to complete GMP documentation attestation logs, work orders, training documents.
- Required to operate handheld electronic documentation unit (when applicable) to complete GMP documentation.
- Prepares cleaning solutions based on GMP regulated mixing instructions.
- Performs microbial control cleaning techniques on walls, ceiling and floors based on GMP regulated cleaning frequencies and guidelines.
- Completes preventive maintenance work orders to meet GMP cleaning requirements.
- Operate various types of wet/dry battery and electric equipment.
- Operate various types of electric and battery type walk behind or ride-on floor scrubbers, sweepers and burnishers.
- Perform preventive maintenance on housekeeping equipment such as:
- battery maintenance, squeegee adjustments, air pressure checks, filters checks.
- Support various recycling programs to include but not limited to: glass, paper, corrugate and plastic by staging and preparing for transportation.
- Operate bailing and compacting equipment.
- The duties listed above cover the most significant jobs performed but not exclude the occasional duties not mentioned.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Must be able to read and comprehend written information to include Corporate Quality Documents, Cross Divisional Operating Procedures &, Safety Guidelines, Departmental Basic Operating Procedures &, Safety Guidelines and Operating Instructions.
- Must be able to complete accurate and legible written records in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices when documenting work performed, (room attestations, work orders, cleaning logs) auditable by regulatory agencies.
- Must be able to operate a computer to complete required compliance/technical training, to download daily work instructions to hand held computer and document work performed, then sync back into the CMMS for GMP review and archiving.
- candidate must complete initial training course provided by LC Housekeeping prior to working in regulated environments at Abbott Lake County site.

The base pay for this position is $14.20 – $26.65 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
