The Environmental Services (EVS) Specialist aids in maintaining a high-quality standard of housekeeping. This includes performing cleaning functions in assigned areas while following assigned schedules and specific methods to provide patients, visitors, and staff with a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient care environment. EVS Specialists aid in the prevention of cross contamination, controlling bacteria, odor, and sustaining acceptable aseptic conditions. They may assist with moves, recycling, delivery of supplies, and the removal of trash and biohazard waste. The EVS Specialist may use industrial cleaning equipment. Primary Responsibilities: Daily cleaning and supplying of patient rooms, nurses' stations, lounges, laboratories, bathrooms, offices, and/or any other area assigned in accordance with the established procedures of the Environmental Services Department. Performs major floor cleaning and re finishing. Essential Functions: Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules using prescribed methods. Replenishes bathroom supplies. Performs major cleaning to carpeted and non carpeted floors. Reports problems such as broken windows, hand rails, etc. to Group Leader and/or Supervisor. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Hospital. Qualifications Educational / Training Requirements: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D). Should be familiar with, if not proficient in, the correct use of chemicals, supplies, tools, and equipment assigned. Prefer general knowledge of and background in infection control practices in a health care facility.
