HOUSEKEEPING ATTENDANT, LONG-TERM CAREDISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:The work involves performing a variety of cleaning duties at the Long-Term Care Facility of the Erie County Medical Center Corporation.The incumbent performs a variety of cleaning and sanitary duties in assigned offices and general areas of the building.Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher ranking supervisory employee.Supervision is not a function of this position.Does related work as required.TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:Vacuums, sweeps, mops and buffs corridors, stairs, stairwells, walls, furniture and equipment;Uses extension pole, ladder and scaffolds while cleaning walls, washing light fixtures, changing drapes or other activities;Shampoos and changes rugs when necessary;Cleans resident rooms when assigned requiring a high degree of cleanliness to minimize possible spread of infection;Gathers and disposes refuse as directed;Cleans public and resident-use bathrooms, scouring sinks, wet mopping floors, disinfecting toilet bowl, wiping down all surfaces and replenishing necessary supplies;Moves furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning tasks;Maintains supply rooms for housekeeping throughout the building;Uses a variety of manual and mechanical equipment.FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:Working knowledge of the properties of various cleaning substances; ability to understand and follow verbal and simple written instructions; ability to communicate in a cheerful and tactful manner; dependability; thoroughness; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:There are no education or experience requirements.Applicants must be able to perform light to moderately heavy physical labor and read and understand the English language.HOURLY WAGE: $17.554/hr - 22.638/hr
